When comparing the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 and the Nexen N fera Sport, both summer tyres, the differences in performance, quality and features are striking.

Michelin Pilot Sport 5

With an impressive rating of 97% from our tests, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyre is a top-tier UUHP (Ultra Ultra High Performance) tyre. Known for its spectacular mileage and exceptional wet braking feature, it secured the 6th position in our Autobild test out of 50 tyres. Furthermore, it held its own by achieving the 3rd position in both the ADAC and ACE tests. This tyre's dynamic handling, short braking distances on both wet and dry surfaces, and high longevity truly sets it apart. Despite its higher price tag, its performance justifies the cost.

Nexen N fera Sport

On the other hand, the Nexen N fera Sport is a definite UHP (Ultra High Performance) tyre with a fair rating of 59%. Produced in the Czech Republic, this tyre is the first equipment for the BMW 2-series Active Tourer. It performed decently in our tests, ranking 14th in the Autobild test and securing the 10th and 9th positions in the ADAC and ACE tests respectively. Its strengths lie in its good resistance to aquaplaning, short braking distance, and low rolling resistance. It may underperform in terms of handling and has average mileage but its exterior noise reduction and more affordable price makes it a value-for-money option.

Verdict

If you are willing to invest in superior quality and performance, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 is definitely the tyre to go for. Its superb handling, excellent mileage and high performance under any weather condition make it well worth the cost.

However, if you are looking for a more economical option that still delivers solid performance, the Nexen N fera Sport might be more suitable for you. Its excellent noise reduction, short dry braking distances as well as resistance to aquaplaning make it a good budget-friendly choice.

One crucial factor to consider is that the Nexen N fera Sport is rated as an UHP tyre while the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 is classified as a UUHP tyre. This highlights that both tyres, while excellent in their own regard, cater to different expectations and requirements of riders.
