The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 has a stellar rating of 99% on our test results, with reliable performance across different weather conditions and remarkably long tread life. Its strongest features include dry handling, aquaplaning cross-resistance, and wear capacity. Despite its high ranking, the price tag is on the expensive side and could offer slightly better grip in wet conditions.

On the other hand, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 scores noticeably lower at 81%, but for the price paid, it delivers excellent value combined with commendable wet grip. A slight drawback is in its slow steering response, which comes off as more comfort-focus rather than sports focus.

In tests by Tyre Reviews, while neither tyre had a specified position, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 was praised for aquaplaning cross-resistance and longevity in wear, and the Hankook excelled in price to value ratio. Meanwhile, in tests by ACE, Michelin achieved 3rd position amongst 10 tyres for its performance, particularly in cross aquaplaning, while the Hankook landed the 7th position thanks to its wet braking prowess.

In a crowded field of 50 tyres on Autobild, Michelin was placed 6th primarily for its wet braking and cornering, and aquaplaning resistance. The Hankook, surprisingly, took the top spot for its wet and dry braking.

As for the manufacturers, Michelin doesn't have a successor to this model as yet. Meanwhile, Hankook, despite ranking lower on the score sheet, received first-fitment endorsement from car manufacturers like Audi and Porsche.

In summary, Michelin's Pilot Sport 5 is an excellent summer tyre with durable wear, consistent performance, and a premium price. The Hankook Ventus S1 evo3, though slower in steering response, shined for its best in class cost-effectiveness. If the buyer values price-performance ratio more, then Hankook could be an attractive option, but if they favor durability and overall performance, then Michelin takes the crown.
