The Michelin CrossClimate 2 and the GoodYear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 are superb all-year-round tires from two of the industry's finest, Michelin and Goodyear, respectively.

Michelin CrossClimate 2

The CrossClimate 2 is a direct sequel to the highly rated Michelin CrossClimate, boasting of our 93% rating. Made in Italy and Spain, one of its standout qualities is its high mileage coupled with an effective rolling resistance. It shines brilliantly on tests involving snow cornering and snow handling as shown across various tests by AUTOBILD, showcasing its exceptional winter driving ability. The tire's main drawback is evidenced on wet surfaces, where it presents slight weaknesses and limitations in grip.

GoodYear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3

GoodYear's Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 is also impressive, earning a high 86% from our rating. This tire, manufactured in Slovenia and France, succeeds the Vector 4Seasons Gen-2. It demonstrates safe driving properties on wet roads and also has a commendable show in winter conditions, with high predicted mileage, minimal weight, and low fuel consumption. Like the CrossClimate 2, it has weaknesses, namely on dry surfaces.

Comparison: Michelin vs Goodyear

The Michelin CrossClimate 2 has often displayed a superior performance in various tests, leading in areas such as dry braking and snow traction, as well as comfort and exterior noise. In spite of this, the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 shouldn’t be quickly dismissed. In the TyreReviews.com 2023 and ADAC tests, for instance, it placed first with robust performance markers on comfort, dry handling, and overall balanced performance. The tire also showed dominance on wet surfaces against the Michelin counterpart. Something remarkable given the latter’s well known underperformance on slightly damp tarmacs.

In conclusion, both the Michelin CrossClimate 2 and Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 prove superior in different areas: the former in dry and winter conditions, the latter in wet conditions and comfort. This highlights both of them as great all-year-round tires worthy of consideration when making a purchase.
