Today we compare the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 and the Nokian Powerproof summer tyres. Both tyres have given commendable performances in multiple auto tests and have their unique strengths.

The Maxxis Victra Sport 5, a UHP (Ultra High Performance) tyre manufactured by Maxxis in China, is impressive with its wet handling capabilities, scoring highly in all tests for wet side guide and aquaplaning. This model, while it hasn't been replaced, has had several versions prior but comes out on top for its specifications. The tyre showed some weaknesses in dry corner precision and wet braking, conservatively ranking it 5th in the test against 11 tyres by AutoMotorSport and 7th in a test by Autozeitung.

The Nokian Powerproof, on the other hand, is a top scorer in terms of dry steering response and interior noise, performing exceptionally in wet braking situations. Ranking second in a test of 50 tyres by Autobild, the Powerproof's performance is among the best in its category. However, the Powerproof did show some weaknesses in aquaplaning safety. The tyre is manufactured by Nokian in Finland with a notable performance history.

Both tyres shine when it comes to handling and precision, with the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 taking a slight edge on wet track conditions, while Nokian Powerproof outperforms in dry steering response. The Powerproof also ticks the comfort box, as it is seen to have lesser noise according to the ADAC test.

Looking at the aggregated test scores, the Nokian Powerproof performs slightly better overall, with a rating of 76% compared to the Maxxis Victra Sport 5's 74% on our scale. However, the Victra Sport 5 stands out in wet conditions, particularly in terms of wet handling and aquaplaning.

To conclude, the Nokian Powerproof is an excellent choice for those seeking dry performance and less interior noise. In contrast, the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 should be on your list if your priorities are exceptional wet performance and mileage.
