When comparing the Fulda EcoControl HP2 and the Dunlop Sport BluResponse, it's clear to see that there are distinct differences between these two summer tyres. They are products of Fulda and Dunlop respectively, both of which are highly respected tyre manufacturers.
The Fulda EcoControl HP2, replacing the previous Fulda EcoControl HP, scored a solid 71% on our rating scale. According to Autobild's tests, it ranked 20th out of 53 tyres and was recognized for its exterior noise and aquaplaning resistance. Fulda's tyre also proved to be environmentally friendly, with good wear and efficiency as reported by Autobild 2024. However, it did show weaknesses on wet roads.
On the other hand, the Dunlop Sport BluResponse outperformed the Fulda tyre in our rating system scoring a higher 79%. Autobild's tyre test saw Dunlop's tyre secure 11th place, owing to its rolling resistance and comfort levels. In the same test, it did well on dry roads and was described as efficient and lightweight. However, its weaknesses included a slightly unbalanced performance, minor issues on wet roads and a low mileage, adding to a less than perfect environmental footprint.
In the ADAC's tests, the Dunlop Sport BluResponse stood out for its aquaplaning resistance, dry braking and interior noise reduction, grabbing the 5th position out of 16 tyres. Yet, its disadvantages included minor weaknesses in wet braking. Comparatively, the Fulda EcoControl HP2 ended in 14th place in the same test.
In conclusion, the Dunlop Sport BluResponse seems to have a slight edge when considering overall rankings and features in various tyre tests. Although both tyres exhibit specific strengths such as the Fulda EcoControl HP2's quiet operation and the Dunlop Sport BluResponse's comfort and efficiency, the Dunlop tyre's superior rankings indicate that it may be the more reliable choice for those prioritising performance and safety. However, users with a preference for environmental soundness might find the Fulda EcoControl HP2 more suitable.
