Today, we're comparing two summer tyres: the Bridgestone Turanza 6 and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. Both of these models are high-performing tyres that are ideal for warm weather conditions, and both offer certain unique features.
Taking over from its predecessor model, the Bridgestone Turanza T005, the main advantage of Turanza 6 by Bridgestone is its focus on comfort and low rolling resistance. This focus was highlighted in Autobild's test results, where these features were recognised. Made in Spain by Bridgestone, Turanza 6 scored 77% in our rating. But it has its downfalls: in one of the tests, Turanza 6 was placed in 16th position out of 50, indicating that there may be better options available in certain aspects.
The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, a successor to both the Asymmetric 5 and Asymmetric 3 models, also presents its strong sides. The Asymmetric 6, made by Goodyear in Germany, features excellent wet and dry handling and braking, confirming the manufacturer's reputation. With a performance rating of a whopping 93%, this tyre stands out in its class. It also stood second in the Autobild tyre test, excelling with its wet circle cornering, dry handling and braking, and comfort.
Interestingly, it scored lower in Aftonbladet's test, where it was ranked 8th, behind the Bridgestone Turanza 6 which scored 4th. Nevertheless, with testimonies noting its 'balanced tyre performance on all types of surfaces and in all weathers', 'dynamic cornering', and 'short braking distances', it's safe to say that the Asymmetric 6 provides an ultra high performance (UHP).
While the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 clearly outperforms the Bridgestone Turanza 6 in most areas, the latter still offers a worthy performance with unique strengths, especially when fuel efficiency is factored in. Your choice, then, will depend on what you value more in a tyre.
In conclusion, both these tyres offer significant benefits, each excelling in different areas: the Bridgestone Turanza 6 in comfort and rolling resistance, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 in overall performance, handling, and braking.
