Today, we are comparing the Bridgestone Potenza S001 and the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres. These models are produced by two recognized global tyre manufacturers Bridgestone and Michelin, respectively.
Regrettably, the Bridgestone Potenza S001 did not receive a rating on our testing parameters (no data available). However, based on existing reviews and tests, this summer tyre shows strength in terms of its Aquaplaning - cross ability. Noteworthy, in the AutoBild test, it ranked 3rd out of 50 tyres and 9th out of 16 tyres in the ADAC test. Despite the lack of a rating, based on the mentioned positions, this tyre appears to hold up well in wet conditions but struggles in other aspects.
In contrast, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 exhibits a more promising performance. We rated it 84%, acknowledging its quality. It is produced in Spain and Germany, so European quality is guaranteed. Michelin designed it to be a successor to the Michelin Pilot Sport 3, and this model has already been replaced by an even newer model, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5.
The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 outperforms the Bridgestone Potenza S001 in mutual tests, where it topped in AutoBild tests and stood second in the ADAC tests. Its strengths can be seen in dry braking and mileage in particular, making it an excellent choice for summer usage. Additionally, it shows considerable improvement in longitudinal aquaplaning, successfully preventing the build-up of water in front of the tyre and ensuring a firm and robust grip on wet roads.
In conclusion, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 seems to be the preferable choice based on our all-round tests, its higher rating, and the performance in mutual tyre tests, compared to the Bridgestone Potenza S001. However, the choice ultimately depends on specific requirements, driving conditions and personal preferences of drivers.
