The comparison below deals primarily with two products, namely the Tomket Sport tyre produced by Tomket and the Toyo Proxes Comfort tyre developed by Toyo Tires. Both these tyres are designed for summer conditions; nevertheless, they demonstrate dramatically varying performance levels in tests, particularly emphasised by this website's individual ratings - 11% for Tomket Sport and 66% for Toyo Proxes Comfort.
Tomket Sport struggles on both wet and dry surfaces, a major disadvantage. This is particularly detrimental in summer tyres, which need to handle both rainfall and heat. These tyres possess a stark weakness in sustainability and a short lifespan, which, along with its performance deficiencies, contribute to its low rating.
On the other hand, the Toyo Proxes Comfort shows exceptional performance capabilities in critical areas. It stands out for its dynamic wet and dry handling and short braking distances. Additionally, the Toyo Proxes Comfort boasts remarkably low rolling noise and comes in at a moderate price point. Its only shortcoming seems to be a lesser lifespan, similar to the Tomket Sport.
In terms of test results, the disparity between the two tyres is quite noticeable too. Autobild’s testing saw the Tomket Sport coming in at a lowly 49th place out of a total of 53 tyres. In comparison, the Toyo Proxes Comfort fared much better, securing 17th place and performing particularly well in dry handling. Similarly, in the ADAC test, the Toyo Proxes Comfort again beat the Tomket Sport by taking 14th place as opposed to Tomket Sport’s 37th position out of the 50 tyres tested.
To conclude, the Toyo Proxes Comfort is decidedly the superior tyre in comparison to the Tomket Sport in virtually every aspect. Its superior handling in both wet and dry situations, considerably lower rolling noise, and attractive pricing make it a solid choice for any customer. On the contrary, the Tomket Sport tyre's impaired performance and low sustainability make it relatively unappealing to potential buyers.
It is worth noting that Toyo Proxes Comfort is a 'made in Japan' product, guaranteeing quality production standards. It is also important to mention that at the time of this review, neither of the tyres had a newer version replacing them.
