Two of the summer tyres popular among motorists are the Sava Intensa UHP 2 and the Uniroyal RainSport 5. Here we provide a side-by-side comparison of their features and performances based on different tyre tests, which will help drivers make an informed decision before purchasing their next set of tyres.
The Sava Intensa UHP 2, manufactured by Sava, boasts efficient dry braking and competitive pricing. It is an improvement upon its previous model, Sava Intensa UHP, and ranks higher in our rating scale at 67%, although it offers no significant upgrades. In comparison, Uniroyal RainSport 5, a product of Uniroyal, excels in aquaplaning, both cross and longitudinal, yet our rating for it stands a bit lower at 64%.
In the Autobild tests, the Sava Intensa UHP 2 secured the 15th position out of 51 tyres, outperforming the Uniroyal RainSport 5, which was positioned at 36. The Sava tyre revealed excellent grip and safety reserves during aquaplaning, showing stable behaviour on dry treads with short braking distances. It also offers good ride comfort and comes with an attractive price tag. However, a significant shortfall of this tyre is its limited lifespan.
Meanwhile, among the top strengths of Uniroyal RainSport 5 in these tests were its exceptional performance in aquaplaning situations, both cross and longitudinal, suggesting high safety and stability, especially during the rainy season. However, Autobild’s test results came in mixed, showing room for improvement in some areas, which consequentially puts it below the Sava Intensa UHP 2 in the overall positions.
It's also noteworthy to mention that neither of these tyres have been replaced with a newer model yet. For further information on each tyre's features and Test Results, please refer to respective product links Sava Intensa UHP 2 and Uniroyal RainSport 5.
In conclusion, while the Uniroyal RainSport 5 is optimal for handling wet conditions, the Sava Intensa UHP 2 takes the edge with its better overall performance and rating. The decision should ultimately depend on user requirements and driving conditions.
