The summer tyres competition is always fierce and as a driver, it's important to know how your potential tyre choices measure up. In this comparison, we'll be looking at two well-respected tyres - the Pirelli P ZERO and the Bridgestone Potenza S001.
Starting with the Pirelli P ZERO, this tyre, made in Italy, is known for its strong dry capabilities according to the ADAC test results. It excels in dry braking, dry driving behavior, and safety. It also rated highly in exterior noise, wet circle cornering and wet handling. However, in overall positioning in several tests, it did not fare as well. In Autobild testing, it placed 25th out of 50, and 12th out of 16 in the ADAC test. On the bright side, it took the top spot in the Sportauto test out of 7.
Next, we have the Bridgestone Potenza S001. Bridgestone's performance was stronger overall when it comes to test placements. In the Autobild testing, the Potenza S001 placed an impressive 3rd out of 50 tyres. While in the more intimate Sportauto and ADAC tests, it came in 6th out of 7 and 9th out of 16 respectively. A particular strength of the S001 revealed in ADAC testing was its excellent performance in Aquaplaning - cross situations.
Drawing a conclusion from the aforementioned comparison of these two Pirelli and Bridgestone tyres, it's clear that both have their specific strengths. If top performance in dry conditions and low exterior noise are your priority, the Pirelli P ZERO has the edge. However, when it comes to overall consistent performance across a range of tests and superior aquaplaning resistance, the Bridgestone Potenza S001 has the upper hand. Neither tyre has been replaced with a newer model, further emphasizing the continued confidence both manufacturers place in these specific tyres.
