Today, we're comparing two popular all-round tyres: Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 produced by Pirelli and Michelin CrossClimate 2 made by Michelin.

With a 96% rating, Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 is the updated model of the SF2, featuring stellar performance in a variety of tests. It consistently secured high positions in multiple tests, taking second place in the AutoBild group of 37 tyres and first place among 11 tyres and in the ALVOLANTE test. Standout attributes include excellent capabilities in aquaplaning – longitudinal and cross, wet handling, dry braking, and more remarkably in ID="strengths_1">dry handling and snow traction.

In a summary from Tire Reviews.com 2024, they describe it as the 'Best in dry with shortest braking distance and fastest lap time, very good in wet, best aquaplaning resistance on test, very good in snow traction and snow handling, best ice traction, low noise.' However, a drawback noted by Autobild 2024 is the 'slightly extended snow braking, highest wear resulting in lowest overall value.'

On the other hand, Michelin CrossClimate 2 with a 93% rating is the improved successor of Michelin CrossClimate. It demonstrated good performance in the same tests as well, obtaining the fourth position in the AutoBild test against 37 tyres and second place in both Autobild group of 11 tyres and ALVOLANTE test. This tyre is credited for its low rolling resistance, excellent snow handling and cornering, and increased mileage.

TyreReviews.com 2024 offers a verdict stating the tyre has 'good grip in the dry, high aquaplaning resistance, best in snow, lowest noise in test, lowest rolling resistance on test.' However, its 'long wet braking, high purchase price with average wear means expensive per km' is listed as a con.

Comparing both tyres, Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 tends to dominate in dry conditions, including braking and handling. But its snow braking is a bit extended and it has the highest wear, hence lowest overall value. Whereas, Michelin CrossClimate 2 excels in snow conditions and has the lowest noise and rolling resistance on the test. The con is its long wet braking and a higher purchase price with average wear, which makes it expensive per km.

Both tyres have their unique strengths and weaknesses, hence the better option truly depends on the specific needs and budget of the driver.
