If you're in the market for new tyres, you might be considering the Petlas Imperium PT515 or the Cooper Zeon CS8. Both are summer tyres crafted by renowned manufacturers, Petlas and Cooper, respectively.
Starting with the Petlas Imperium PT515, our tests gave it a rating of 48%. Manufactured in Turkey, this tyre didn't have previous models and hasn't been replaced by a newer version. While the PT515 scored in the 35th position out of 53 in the Autobild's test and 30th out of 50 in ADAC's, autobild 2020's test highlighted the PT515's strength in high mileage and low tread wear. However, it noted its unbalanced performance and weaknesses on both wet and dry roads. The tyre was also relatively heavy and showed notable weaknesses in sustainability.
Looking at the Cooper Zeon CS8, it was marked with a slightly lower rating of 42% in our tests. This tyre, originating from Great Britain, also didn't have earlier models and hasn't been replaced. In direct comparison with PT515 in Autobild's and ADAC's tests, CS8 performed better, securing 26th and 33rd place respectively. However, autobild 2020's test sheds light on the CS8's good performance on wet roads, but states it as unbalanced, with pronounced weaknesses on dry roads and in the environmental balance. The CS8 is described to have a short runtime, and weaknesses in tread wear, efficiency, and sustainability.
In a nutshell, both tyres have their own strengths and weaknesses. The Petlas Imperium PT515 seems to outshine with high mileage and low tread wear but falls short in balanced performance. On the other hand, the Cooper Zeon CS8 reveals good performance on wet roads but lacks longevity and balanced performance.
Of the two, the Cooper Zeon CS8 managed to perform better in the tests overall, which could make it a slightly better choice for those who prioritize test results in tyre comparison. However, the particular strengths and weaknesses of each might make each more suited to different driving conditions and drivers' preferences.
