Today, we're comparing two popular summer tyres: the Nokian WetProof and the Semperit Speed-Life 3. These tyres have been extensively tested, and our analysis will help you understand their strengths and weaknesses.
Beginning with the Nokian WetProof, manufactured by Nokian in Finland, this model received a 74% rating from us. It performed well in both the Autoklub ČR and Autobild test, landing the 6th position out of 19 and 53 tyres respectively. Its strongest features include exterior noise reduction and wet circle cornering. However, the well-rounded performance was slightly marred by weak environmental balance, tyre wear, and sustainability issues.
On the other hand, the Semperit Speed-Life 3, made by Semperit, was rated at 59% by us. It outperformed the Nokian WetProof in the ADAC test, attaining the 2nd position out of 15 tyres. The tyre is praised for its exterior noise and wet braking performance. This model is a successor to the previous Semperit Speed-Life, improving on its characteristics. Yet, it's worth noting that the Speed-Life 3 showed weaknesses in dry conditions and environmental sustainability.
In summary, if you're after the top performer in tests, the Nokian WetProof generally fares better overall, with strong performance on both dry and wet roads. Nevertheless, if noise reduction and wet braking are your top priorities, the Semperit Speed-Life 3 stands out in these areas.
In conclusion, neither tyre is perfect. The Nokian WetProof may fall a bit short in terms of environmental sustainability and tyre wear. Meanwhile, the Semperit Speed Life 3 could improve its performance on dry roads. Therefore, the choice between the two will ultimately come down to your specific needs and priorities.
