In our tyre comparison, we are looking at two allround tyres: the Nexen N Blue 4 Season 2 and the GoodYear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3. Both these tyres are from reputable manufacturers, Nexen and Goodyear respectively.
The Nexen N Blue 4 Season 2, made in Czech Republic, is the successor of the Nexen N Blue 4 Season. This tyre's highest strength is its mileage and price/value, making it a great choice for those looking to save money in the long run. However, a significant disadvantage of this model is its understeering behaviour in snow and wet conditions. Moreover, mediocre aquaplaning reserves have also been noted. In the AUTOBILD test, this tyre ranked 16 while in Autobild test, it ranked 12 out of 16 tyres, positioning it behind the GoodYear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3.
On the other side, the GoodYear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 is an all-round tyre manufactured in Slovenia and France. This tyre carries a high rating of 86%, a considerable improvement over its predecessors (Goodyear Vector 4Seasons and Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-2). The tyre excels in dry handling, snow braking, snow traction and wet circle cornering, providing balanced high-level performance, good aquaplaning reserves, and sporty handling at all weather conditions. However, it did show average mileage and increased rolling noise. Despite minor weaknesses though, the Goodyear tyre performed considerably well in the tests as it secured 6th place in both AUTOBILD and Autobild tests.
In conclusion, both tyres have their strengths and weaknesses. The Nexen offers excellent value and mileage but at the cost of certain performance attributes especially in challenging weather conditions. The GoodYear excels in overall handling and performance but falls slightly short in mileage and noise level. Nevertheless, based on the test results, the GoodYear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 comes out on top and could be the better choice for those prioritising driving performance and safety.
