Comparing the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 and the Continental PremiumContact 6, two summer tyres from reputable manufacturers Maxxis and Continental, we see some substantial differences.

The Maxxis Victra Sport 5, manufactured in China, scores 75% in our overall rating. This ultra-high-performance model does particularly well in wet conditions, with testers noting its strong wet handling and wet side guide. However, weaknesses were identified in dry handling, particularly in terms of steering precision and comfort, as well as in aquaplaning protection. Regardless, among the 11 tyres tested by AutoMotorSport, it scored a respectable fifth place.

On the other hand, the Continental PremiumContact 6, manufactured in Slovakia, Germany, and the Czech Republic, earned an excellent 87% in our rating. This touring tyre excels especially in dry conditions, with superior dry handling, dry lane changing, and dry steering response. Despite minor weaknesses in wet performance, it ranks third among 11 tyres in AutoMotorSport's test, 2nd among 10 tyres in Autozeitung's test and an outstanding first place among 16 tyres in the ADAC test.

The Continental PremiumContact 6 is the successor of the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 and has already been replaced by a newly advanced model, the Continental PremiumContact 7. The Maxxis Victra Sport 5, however, has not been superseded by a newer model.

In comparison, both tyres have their strengths and weaknesses, but overall, the Continental PremiumContact 6 comes out on top, largely due to its superior performance in dry conditions and impressive test rankings. The Maxxis Victra Sport 5, whilst not performing as well overall, stands out in wet conditions, making it a viable contender depending on specific motorists' priorities.

In conclusion, the updates to the Continental PremiumContact 6 helped to significantly enhance the tyre's dry performance and is well-identified in numerous tests, making it the better tyre overall. However, for motorists who prioritize certain aspects such as wet handling, the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 may still be a worthy consideration.
