The Laufenn S Fit EQ and the Maxxis Premitra HP5 are two summer tyres with different performances based on our tests and customer reviews. In comparing these two tyres, we have conducted various tests and assessed their performance in different situations. Both tyres have not been replaced with newer models and remain popular choices for summer tyre options.


The Laufenn S Fit EQ, a product of Laufenn manufacturer, earned a rating of 46% in our tests. The tyre's strengths lie in its dry road handling and comfort. In the Autobild test, it took the 44th position out of 53, with comfort identified as its best feature. Its performance on dry roads was lauded in the GTÜ test where it secured the 7th position out of 9. However, limitations were identified in its grip and braking on wet roads, and it shows modest mileage.


On the other hand, the Maxxis Premitra HP5, produced by Maxxis, shows a higher performance level, receiving a 69% rating in our tests. Its best features according to tests conducted include aquaplaning – both cross and longitudinal - dry handling, wet circle cornering and wet handling. In the Autobild and GTÜ tests, it ranked 20th out of 53 and 4th out of 9 respectively. Additionally, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 stood out at the ADAC test, securing the 3rd position out of 12, with best features identified in aquaplaning, dry braking and wet circle cornering. Despite superior performance, it exhibited understeering in dry handling and has noticeably shortened lifespan and a higher rolling resistance.


To Summarize, the Laufenn S Fit EQ stands out for its comfort and good dry road handling, with its primary weaknesses in wet roads and modest mileage. Conversely, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 demonstrates impressive aquaplaning resistance, both cross and longitudinal, as well as good wet and dry handling. However, it has reduced lifespan and increased rolling resistance. Overall, each tyre has its respective strengths and weaknesses. The final choice will heavily rely on the individual's driving style, preferences and conditions.
