Today, we will be comparing two summer tyre models, the Imperial EcoSport 2 and the Kumho Ecsta PS71, produced by Imperial and Kumho manufacturers respectively.
To start with, the Imperial EcoSport 2 didn't manage to secure a high position in the Autobild test, coming in 41st out of a total of 53 tyres. Although no specific strengths or weaknesses were mentioned, this ranking suggests that this tyre has a considerable room for improvement, especially when compared to its competitor in this review. There are no previous models for this tyre recorded, suggesting that it is a completely new design from Imperial.
On the other hand, the Kumho Ecsta PS71 seems to be a much better performer overall. Its position in the Autobild test was considerably better, placing 18th out of 53. This tyre also had a positive review from ADAC 2021 with several notable strengths mentioned. Among these, the ADAC 2021 summary praised the tyre for its balanced high-performance potential and good handling qualities. The tyre also exhibited short braking distances on both wet and dry surfaces, offering a reliable performance in summer conditions. Finally, an aspect that can't be overlooked is its fair price, making it an attractive option for those on a budget.
The only downside noted for the Kumho Ecsta PS71 was a slightly elevated driving noise. However, considering the numerous strengths and competitive pricing, this may not be a deal-breaker for many buyers.
In summary, based on the available test data results, the Kumho Ecsta PS71 delivers a more reliable and well-rounded performance than the Imperial EcoSport 2. This makes the Ecsta PS71 tyre a more attractive choice between the two, boasting both efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Neither of these tyres has been replaced by newer models yet, meaning customers can still purchase either directly from the manufacturer. If either tyre receives an updated model, be sure to check back on our site for the latest tests and reviews.
