In the world of tyres, there are numerous options to choose from. Today, we will be comparing two popular tyres - the Imperial EcoDriver 5 and the Firestone Roadhawk. For an overview of the manufacturer, check out Imperial and Firestone.
The Imperial EcoDriver 5 is a summer tyre with a performance rating of 17%. In two mutual tests, the EcoDriver 5 consistently placed lower than the Roadhawk. Out of 53 tyres in the Autobild test, it came in 32nd and in the Autoklub ČR test, out of 19 tyres, it held position 17.
On the other hand, the Firestone Roadhawk had a significantly higher performance rating at 59%. In the Autobild test, the Roadhawk was the 10th best tyre out of 53, excelling in dry handling, wet handling and wet side guide. In the Autoklub ČR test, it took slot number 11 out of 19. Automotorsport's test showed that the Firestone Roadhawk features a solid and dynamic handling. It particularly praised the tyre for its short dry braking distances and its great value for money. However, the test found it to be slightly noisier due to increased roll noise.
Verdict: When comparing the two, it's clear that Firestone Roadhawk outperforms the Imperial EcoDriver 5 in tests. The higher performance rating and better test positions make it the preferred choice. Its incomparable handling and braking abilities - both on wet and dry conditions - make it a top contender. However, the possible noise issue is something to note for those who value a quiet ride.
For the EcoDriver 5 fans, unfortunately, there is not a newer model that has replaced this tyre. The same can be said for Roadhawk users. Hence, if you are looking for an upgrade, you may have to browse through different models from Imperial or Firestone to find a suitable choice.
