We have two high-performing summer tyres compared in this review, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport and the Pirelli P ZERO PZ4. Both products are manufactured by industry giants, Goodyear and Pirelli, and have received good ratings in our tests.
The Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport received a rating of 71 percent from us. It stands out due to its dry handling, as reported by Tyre Reviews. Despite this strength, in mutual tests conducted by Gute-Fahrt and Sportauto, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport finished behind the Pirelli P ZERO PZ4, securing the 6th and 7th position out of 7 tyres respectively. It's worth noting, this tyre is manufactured in Germany, an element for those interested in geographical provenance. Goodyear has not replaced this model with a newer version yet.
On the other hand, the Pirelli P ZERO PZ4 outperformed the Goodyear tyre in mutual tests, achieving the 2nd position in the Gute-Fahrt test and 4th in the Sportauto test. We gave it a higher rating of 85 percent. The Pirelli P ZERO PZ4 is designated as ultra-ultra-high performance (UUHP), indicating it is designed to deliver exceptional speed and handling characteristics. However, specific strengths aren't mentioned by Tyre Reviews. There is currently no newer model that replaced this Pirelli P ZERO PZ4.
In conclusion, based on our ratings and position in mutual tests, the Pirelli P ZERO PZ4 seems to be the better tyre overall. However, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport shines in its dry handling capabilities. Therefore, the choice between the two would likely depend on specific requirements, the Goodyear for better dry handling vs the Pirelli for better overall performance.
