Today we are comparing two summer tyres, both highly rated in our reviews: the Fulda SportControl 2 and Maxxis Premitra HP5. Both tyres offer impressive features that distinguish them in the market.
Fulda SportControl 2
The Fulda SportControl 2 manufactured by Fulda scored 74% in our rating. In the Autobild test involving 52 tyres, it held the 9th position. It exhibited exceptional capabilities in Aquaplaning - cross. However, according to our evaluation, it performed less effectively in terms of its response to steering and wear rate.
Maxxis Premitra HP5
On the other hand, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 from Maxxis scored 69% in our rating. Despite the lower rating, it outperformed the Fulda SportControl 2 in the ACE test, securing the 1st position among nine tyres. It particularly excelled in Aquaplaning - cross and Aquaplaning - longitudinal, Dry braking, Dry handling, Dry handling - objective, and Wet handling - objective, and noted low exterior noise. However, it fell short in terms of dry handling and had a slower tread wear rate and higher rolling resistance.
Verdict
Based on the test results, both tyres have their strengths and weaknesses. The Fulda SportControl 2 shines in terms of Aquaplaning but has some weaknesses in terms of steering response and tread life. While the Maxxis Premitra HP5 dominates the test in Aquaplaning, dry braking, and handling, it comes with a downside of compromised dry handling and slower wear rate.
Overall, choosing between the two depends on the specific requirement of drivers. The Fulda SportControl 2 is suitable for drivers who navigate through heavy rainy conditions, while the Maxxis Premitra HP5 leans more towards drivers who drive more on dry roads.
