The Continental PremiumContact 7 and Maxxis Victra Sport 5 are both summer tyres, however, they have important differences in performance and ratings. In several tests, the Continental tyre consistently ranked higher than the Maxxis tyre.
The Continental PremiumContact 7, a touring tyre, was manufactured across several countries - FR, SK, DE, and CZ. With an impressive overall rating of 99% on our website, it outperformed the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 in most categories in the Autobild, ACE, and sportauto tests. It excelled particularly in "Aquaplaning - longitudal", "Rolling resistance", "Wet braking", "Wet handling-objective", "Wet Handling", "Dry braking", "Dry handling", "Wet circle cornering", "Dry steering response" and more. The Continental tyre's previous models were the Continental PremiumContact 6 and Continental ContiPremiumContact 5. The manufacturer (Continental) has not released a new model to replace the PremiumContact 7 yet.
On the other hand, the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 is a UHP tyre and was produced in CN. Though it has a commendable rating of 69% on our site, it held slightly lower test positions than the Continental tyre. Its best features were listed as "Dry handling - objective", "Dry handling", "Wet handling - objective", "Wet circle cornering" in ACE and Sportauto tests. Some downsides revealed in various tests were longer braking distances on wet surfaces, and a higher rolling resistance. Maxxis (Maxxis) hasn't introduced a newer version to replace the Victra Sport 5 yet.
In summary, both tyres have their strengths and weaknesses. The Continental PremiumContact 7 generally seems to be the better choice due to its excellent performance in various tests, offering shorter braking distances and generally better handling. The Maxxis Victra Sport 5, while safe and reliable, has some areas for improvement. Ultimately, the decision will depend on the specific needs and preferences of the driver.
As final note, remember to always keep check on your tyres' conditions and replace them when necessary, as either Continental or Maxxis release new models.
