In this tyre comparison review, we analyse two all-round tyres: Continental AllSeasonContact and Bridgestone Weather Control A005, manufactured by Continental and Bridgestone respectively.
The Continental AllSeasonContact, made in Slovakia, Czech Republic, and France, has an average rating of 77% from our tests. Its strengths include impressive all-round talent with best winter qualities, excellent aquaplaning properties, precise steering response, and an efficient fuel consumption rate due to lower rolling resistance. However, it reveals a weakness on dry roads according to the ADAC 2020 test.
Following the comparison in the Autoklub ČR, the Continental AllSeasonContact particle shows a commanding performance coming out top of 7 tyres, excelling in aquaplaning - cross and longitudal, as well as comfort. In the Autobild test, it secures the 5th position out of 27 tyres, with stand-out features such as snow cornering, snow traction, and aquaplaning - longitudal. ADAC and ACE tests confirm its top position, highlighting its fuel efficiency, snow handling, and wet handling among others.
On the other hand, the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 does not have a rating from our site, and its country of manufacture is unspecified. Its strengths include short wet and dry braking distances, precise steering response, and a low rolling resistance, leading to a sporty-dynamic driving behaviour on wet and dry roads. Nonetheless, it shows weaknesses in snowy conditions and has a satisfactory performance according to Autobild 2020’s test.
In the mutual tests with the Continental variant, the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 placed 4th out of 7 tyres in the Autoklub ČR test, displaying excellent dry braking and wet circle cornering. Surprisingly, it clinched the top position in the Autobild test, exceeding in various features such as dry handling, exterior noise, and wet braking. Nonetheless, the ADAC and ACE tests paint a different picture with the tyre taking the last positions, with its best performance tied to dry handling and wet handling.
In conclusion, both tyres have their strengths and weaknesses, but the Continental AllSeasonContact appears to edge out in overall test performance, making it ideal for various weather conditions. However, if dry and wet condition driving is your primary consideration, the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 presents a very competitive alternative.
