Here is a comparison of two popular tyres, the Bridgestone Turanza T005 and the Michelin Pilot Sport 4. The former is a touring model and was not replaced, while the latter is a summer model that superseded the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 and has since been updated to the Michelin Pilot Sport 5. Both tyres have been put through various tests which we will now analyze to provide verdicts on their strengths and weaknesses.

Starting with the AutoMotorSport test, the Bridgestone Turanza T005 secured a 6th place finish out of 11 tyres. It performed well in terms of rolling resistance, wet braking, and wet handling. Meanwhile, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 finished in 2nd place with notable strengths in dry steering response, longitudinal aquaplaning, dry braking, dry handling, and objective wet handling.

In the automotorsport 2022 test, the Bridgestone Turanza T005 was praised for its performance on wet surfaces and its balance and dynamism on dry asphalt. However, it did exhibit minor weakness in longitudinal aquaplaning. On the other hand, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 was lauded for its responsiveness, precision, and dynamics on dry roads, fulfilling sporty demands. It is worth noting that its successor, Pilot Sport 5, is now available. The tyre's weaknesses include a narrow limit on wet surfaces, being sensitive to puddles and having low damping."

The comparison continues with the Autobild test featuring 53 tyres. Bridgestone Turanza T005 finished 10th with rolling resistance being its standout feature. Michelin Pilot Sport 4 achieved an impressive 2nd place finish, displaying excellent performance in cross and longitudinal aquaplaning and wet handling.

In conclusion, the Bridgestone Turanza T005 is a solid touring tyre offering great wet performance, balance, and dynamism on both wet and dry surfaces. However, it falls short in aquaplaning resistance. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4, on the other hand, is an exceptional summer tyre with a strong showing in dry steering response, aquaplaning resistance, and wet handling. Its weakness lies in its performance on wet surfaces. Considering that the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 secured better overall positions in the mutual tests, it can be considered as the superior choice. For those interested in an upgrade, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 is now available.
