If you're looking for a detailed comparison between two high-performance tyres, you're in the right place. Here, we'll be examining the Bridgestone Turanza 6 and the Maxxis Premitra HP5, two summer tyres that have been put to the test in various tyre comparisons.
First, let's look at the Bridgestone Turanza 6 tyre. Manufactured by Bridgestone, it received an overall rating of 83% from us. One of the key strengths of these tyres, as noted in the Autozeitung comparison, is their low rolling resistance. The 2024 review from autozeitung highlighted the tyre's balanced driving properties, enhanced kilometre performance, and commendable handling in both wet and dry conditions.
However, the Turanza 6 tyre did not manage to top the competition in the tests. In Autozeitung test it was placed ninth out of nine tyres, and in Autobild test, it secured the tenth position out of 55 tyres. Even then, it is worth noting that there are no newer models by Bridgestone that replace this particular tyre.
Moving onto the Maxxis Premitra HP5 tyre. This model, produced by Maxxis, received a rating of 69% from us. The tyre performed notably well in aquaplaning tests according to Autozeitung, and was appreciated for its good kilometre performance and short dry braking distances, as per the 2024 autozeitung review.
Its performance in the tests were slightly better than the Turanza 6, putting it higher in the ranks. In the Autozeitung comparison, the Premitra HP5 took eighth place out of nine tyres. In the Autobild test, it was placed at the eighth position out of 55 tyres.
Despite these relatively good placements in tyre tests, some weaknesses were highlighted. The 2024 autozeitung review mentioned that the tyre's grip level on both wet and dry land is barely modest, and there's a delayed steering response.
Overall, if you're looking for a tyre with better performance in tyre tests, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 might be the better option of the two. However, if balanced driving properties and exceptional kilometre performance are what you're after, the Bridgestone Turanza 6 would be a suitable fit.
