We now aim to compare two popular summer tyres: the Barum Bravuris 5 HM and the Fulda EcoControl HP2.
The Barum Bravuris 5 HM, produced by Barum, did not have any previous models nor has it been replaced by any newer model. This tyre received a rating of 39% in our assessment.
In contrast, the Fulda EcoControl HP2 by Fulda is an advanced version of its predecessor, the Fulda EcoControl HP. It did not undergo any model replacement and boasts an impressive rating of 71% based on our tests.
In the tyre test conducted by ADAC, the Barum Bravuris 5 HM secured the 24th position out of 50 whereas the Fulda EcoControl HP2 emerged much higher at the 13th position. The tests by GTÜ reaffirmed the superior performance of Fulda EcoControl HP2 as it secured the 4th position, with Barum Bravuris 5 HM trailing behind at the 8th spot amongst total 8 tyres tested.
The Autobild evaluation depicted the Fulda EcoControl HP2 tyre performing significantly better securing the 20th position, as opposed to the 29th place of Barum Bravuris 5 HM.
Furthermore, Autobild's tyre testing underscored the Fulda EcoControl HP2 tyre’s excellent aquaplaning features. This model was praised for its promising performance on environmental aspects, tyre lifespan, wear and efficiency, despite minor setbacks on wet roads.
Given this data, it is evident that each tyre has its own strengths and weaknesses. Although the Barum Bravuris 5 HM is a decent choice for a summer tyre, it still lacks behind in certain qualities when compared to its competitor based on the test results.
On the other hand, paltry drawbacks aside, the Fulda EcoControl HP2 delivers superior features suggested by the manufacturer. Moreover, this tyre stands out in the tests, constantly outperforming the Barum Bravuris 5 HM.
In summary, taking into consideration all the evaluations and test results, we can conclude that the Fulda EcoControl HP2 appears to be a better choice overall.
